To finish the “In bloom” at the beginning of fall..

..is such an amazing feeling.

I actually started this pillow as a CAL last year. And yes, it was my first attempt to follow a pattern. I had only started crocheting a few weeks before that so you can definitely say I like a challenge. Hihi.

Well I came a long way but somewhere around the popcorns I just suddenly stopped. I have been trying to remember why but somehow it got placed upon a shelf and has been resting there until this very week when I saw that funny hashtag frogorfinishline. So I decided to pick it up again and actually finish it. And I did: yeay!!

This pillow is an absolute stunner and I love it so much. It’s never to late, not even for the most longgoing wips.

The pattern (which you can find here) was made by the talented yarn magician Mijocrochet as a free CAL for Favoritgarner. We used a gorgeous cotton yarn from Scheepjes called Catona that are available in over 100 different shades. And oh it has the most incredible shine to it. Please check it out!

Back to the pillow process. 😉

I learned so much and met many amazing creators by doing this CAL. And yes.. There will actually be another In Bloom-pillow in the making as I’m doing one for my mother. Lets hope it doesn’t take me half a year to finish this time. 🙊

Wish you all a great weekend!

When you get an idea..

..and just have to wing it to make it work.

This was my morning today. As I woke up the sky was grey and the rain was falling down. A perfect day for some fall inspired crochet you might think. But no, I totally got a picture stuck in my head of a flower-balloon-with-a-basket-kind of thing. Lol! Have no idea where it came from or how it will eventually end up.

Started with the flower and now I’ll try to make it up as I go, a top down approach. Exiting? Or just crazy.. We’ll see! 😅

Yarn: Scheepjes Catona.

Crochet hook: Clover amour 3,5 mm.

Flower pattern: Make my day creative.

Leaf pattern: My own improvisation.

Every summer needs a boho-bag…

..and this year I’m crocheting one.

I’ve had the same thing the last couple of years. As soon as it starts to feel a tiny bit like summer – I go all in for the romantic boho-look. Floral prints, long flowing dresses and fringes. I feel totally free, happy and easygoing. It might be a kind of rebellion against my corporal persona (which I also love) as my day to day job is in the science of public health. No matter the reason, it just happens. 😇

I have this little gorgeous white creamy dreamy crocheted bag I got many many many years ago, I might actually have been 13, from my aunt and it’s still going strong. But after becoming a mother I find it to be just a little too small for all those essentials. Other than my phone and lipgloss I now also carries pacifiers, napkins, sunscreens, a toy or two and so on.. There is definitely room for adding an extra love to my bag collection. I just like that I found this simple yet gorgeous pattern on Pinterest for the Urban Gypsy Boho Bag by Make & do create. Fringes, grannysquares and cluster stitches – what’s not to love?!

For my version I’m using my trusty 4,00 mm from Tulip Etimo and Drops Muskat yarn in the three shades; Light pink (06), White (18) and Light beige (61).

Isn’t it just the perfect shade of dusty pink?!

To be continued! 😄

A chunky baby blanket

Sorry for being a bit absent lately but this pregnancy is kicking my but right now. However, I do get some crocheting done!

Take a look at this baby blanket I just finished trying out for Grandmaskills (whom you can find on Instagram). It’s so easy, quick and with a gorgeous texture that you can look at for days. It’s definitely my new go to when it comes to baby gifts.

As I worked with Drops Andnes, which consists of 65% wool and 35% alpaca, it snugged a bit and became smaller than the gauge but I really don’t mind. It ended up being approximately 60*75cm which works perfect for a stroller or a cradle.

What do you think? Isn’t it a beauty?!

The Mandala Madness Continues

It’s been a few rounds since I last wrote and oh how it grows beautifully. I’m “only” on part four but this pattern is already turning out to be a real yarn-eater!  Ran out of yarn twice last week. So to be on the safe side I went ahead andbought all the whites the store had! 😂 Better safe then sorry.

Have a great day!

Mandala Madness

So ok I just had to start another mandala project. 🙈 And this time I fell for the Mandala Madness CAL from 2016. Yes I know, I’m such a sucker for CAL:s. But they are almost always so much fun, well worked and absolutely stunning.

Trying to contrast my oh so colorful Atlanticus this will be challenging in the opposite way. I’ve chosen to only use three colors. A raspberry red, a vintage rose and a crispy white.

As gorgeous as it is in its full size I’ll probably settle for making it in a “baby blanket-version”. I already have several large blankets in the making and I would love to finish it sometime this year. 😅
